The Development of STEP, the CEFR-Based English Proficiency Test

چکیده

This study aimed at developing the Silpakorn Test of English Proficiency (STEP), in alignment with Common European Framework Reference for Languages (CEFR), and accordance theoretical framework established by Alderson et al. (2006). Four major steps were involved test construction. First, language lecturers who served as content specialists asked to design can-do statements presented CEFR. Then designed specification based on statements. skill areas: listening, semi-speaking, reading, semi-writing targeted construct. At this juncture, required write items specification. Next, constructed determined their validity reliability. Finally, a standard setting was carried out. The results demonstrated that offered (2006) an effective reference document STEP.
